In exercise of the powers vested in him by Section-38 (4) read with the
first proviso to Section-39 (2) (ii) of the Bihar State University Act,
1976 and Section-38 (4) read with the first proviso to Section-39 (2)
(ii) of the Patna University Act, 1976, the Hon’ble Chancellor is
pleased to assent to the amendment to the 4-Year CBCS Under Graduate
Ordinance and Regulation: in respect of Programme Duration and Exit
Options mentioned in Clause/Table “03. Program of Study/Course
Structure”, notified earlier vide letter no.-687 dated-15.05.2023.

2. This shall come into force from the date when the Hon’ble Chancellor
was pleased to signify his assent, that is, .07.2026.

3. The amended Ordinance and Regulations shall not be applicable to the
Patliputra University, Patna and the Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic &
Persian University, Patna for the time being.

Students shall undergo a certified program of study extending up to
eight semesters spread over four academic years.

Each academic year shall consist of two semesters:

Odd semesters (I, III, V, VII) from July to December

Even semesters (II, IV, VI, VIII) from January to June.

The Bachelor programme will consist of a number of courses as per
Annexure, spanning over eight semesters.

For running minor courses in a particular semester the academic Council
of the University may take the decision if required keeping the
viability at the local level.
